It has been two decades since the very first overnight trips commenced in Halong Bay. The Bay itself is always unique and incredible, and the trips will never fail, if there are no disappointment caused by either misunderstanding or illegal companies’ false ads. With the list below, the Gray Line crew wishes to help our clients understand the matters to relax on the sea utmost.

 

1. ABOUT TIMING

A two-day-one-night trip lasts 32 hours from 08:30 on the first day to 16:30 on the last day including two-way transfer and a sea cruise, NOT the sea cruise itself. At the Gray Line cruise, time to leave the cruise is often 11:30 or 12:00 noon, i.e. longer than at other cruises 01.30 to 02 hrs.

A three-day-two-night trip lasts 56 hrs, from 08.30 on the first day to 16.30 on the third day. Detailed schedule is always listed clearly by tour guides and cruise managers.

Many guests quit the squid fishing time because it is difficult, especially when in the low season, in dark days and bad weather days. This service as well as rods are always available for the guests, but the result still depends on luck. We strongly recommend our guests to squid for fun, but release the squids, especially small ones, after being successful. A big number of boats and cruises in each overnight area is now a main reason of unsuccessful fishing time too.

Pick-up time at your hotel or rendezvous near the Opera House cause a lot of complaints, but all shuttle buses arrive to pick up the first group early, and most of them will leave Hanoi at 08:30 or 08:45. This is also the rush hour in the city, and the waiting time for each group at each hotel or rendezvous in the narrow Hanoi Old quarter is not depending on the tour guides or drivers. Most of programs quote that the pickup time is from 07:30 to 08:30 AM. At Gray Line, it is often from 08:15 – 09.00 as the cruises are boutique with maximum 14 cabins and about 30 guests only.

Check out time is not “leaving time”. The checkout time is from 09.30 to 10.00 so that the crew can clean your rooms before the upcoming groups arrive. But the time you need to leave the cruise is always later.

 

2. ABOUT RELAXATION

Many clients expect all activities as exact as the given itinerary, but sometimes annoy with the busy and crowded areas. In fact, the boats and cruises are always available for staying and relaxing, you don’t need to attend any activity if all you want is a vacant boat or place for drinking, having sunbath, and watching blue sky with no one nearby. A three-day-two-night programs, though, is the best to enjoy by yourselves.

Unused services included in clients’ chosen itinerary are non-refundable. In addition, we encourage our clients to learn more about our cancellation policies, just in case of being unable to attend the already booked tour.

3. INCLUSIVE SERVICES

Drink is never included in the services, except the mineral water during transfer, or the in-room water. You can order as many cans of beer as you want, or you never drink anything except the tea or water, so drink will cost extra. All cruises have menu with prices on that. At Gray Line, happy hour is from 17:00-18:00 and during this time, the drink big discount is applied, though.

Some clients, especially who take the three-day tour, expect to spend all three days on the same cruise. In fact, if you stay in the big cruise, you can never approach smaller, hidden beaches, enjoying more relaxing program, as well as having your own time. The three-day tour, consequently, always use a smaller boat (without rooms) for the second day. The big boats are normally get back to the harbor to welcome next groups and return the anchor about 04:30 PM.
